The Denis Wick Plunger Mute is a modern design on a classic jazz mute, the toilet plunger. Made from aluminium with PVC edges, the mute creates a focused and pronounced 'wah' effect. First used in the 20's by King Oliver, and pioneered by trumpeters such as "Cootie" Williams, and Wynton Marsalis, the plunger mute is frequently used to mimic a human voice, and add emotion and colour to a solo.
